I’ve been interested in art as long as I can remember but it wasn’t until after my retirement as a middle school principal that I decided to pursue it. I have been an award winning competitive bird carver for more than 20 years but have always been looking for ways to improve the painting of my birds. After moving to Cape Cod after my retirement, I decided to take a painting class at the Cape Cod Art Association to learn about mixing colors and various kinds of brush strokes. What happened was that the thrill of being able to put a composition on canvas with paint began to take over as my primary interest and I haven’t looked back. I am now a juried artist and have taken classes and workshops at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the CC Art Association, the Chatham Creative Art Center, and The Yarmouth Art Guild. I love learning how to mix the limitless range of colors and applying them to my paintings and learning the various techniques to get the desired effects. I paint with acrylics and primarily do landscapes and still life and have just begun incorporating birds into my paintings.
